Well this is an improvement, fortnight notes! I am on leave next week so didn’t want to peak too soon with getting back to weeknotes, but the plan is certainly to get back to normal in a couple of weeks. Although I have liked some of the flexibility on the dates and not rushing to get something out each week. Will see where we get to.

August has flown past, I know I have had a couple of weeks of annual leave but it really has been a quite hectic month. Usually August is a time for playing catch up…

It’s been a four day week for me this week which has been nice, had post-holiday blues on Monday, even though I was only off a few days, I clearly really switched.

It has been an amazing week — couple of projects have gone live and it was the week of the Socitm Share National Conference on Ethical and Secure use of Emerging Technologies and Data! So an exhausting week!

The conference is months in the planning, and all of a sudden it crept up on me and was here!! There is a great team at Socitm and a huge…

It’s been a really busy couple of weeks but I’m really pleased to be able to say that we have been commended as part of our submissions for the MJ awards. You can read more about the awards on the MJ website — https://awards.themj.co.uk/. The council are also finalists in three categories Local Authority of the Year, Workforce Transformation and green recovery but Leadership in Response to the Climate Emergency.

I am incredibly proud of the team to have been commended, especially with so much going on. We were commended for the work on Inclusivity, which is great to hear…

Has been a week that has started to feel a bit more like returning to ‘normal’ with some face to face meetings this week.

Started the week with meeting my management team on Monday afternoon. Was really good to see them all face to face — first time since March 2020. Felt slightly surreal at times but was nice to catch up, we had a bit of lunch and spent some time just finding out what was going on with everyone. We did spend a little bit of time thinking and planning for the future as well. So a great…

It has been good to get a bit more out and about this week, having spent the weekend in London and the day on Thursday seeing colleagues I haven’t seen for the whole of the pandemic, apart from in a little box on screen. Really looking forward to seeing my management team in person on Monday as well. So, going to start next week out and about as well.

A typically British week this week, weather wise, glorious sunshine followed by lots of rain! Still didn’t get the thunder that was promised all week. Not complaining obviously! Was so nice to take the camper van out last weekend and was a great weekend for it. Beautiful weather and a site not too far from home so not hours on a motorway!

Have finalised the digital strategy update for year one for cabinet and the update of the strategy itself. This sets out what we are going to achieve over the next 12 months. …

It was Socitm’s President’s Week conference this week. One of the best things about having virtual conferences is that you are able to be in many places almost at the same time. This week we have finalised a draft of the cabinet report and digital strategy update for our first year of the digital strategy.

On Tuesday of this week I went to our corporate leadership team with an update on the world of work program and more specifically what we are planning on doing with Hounslow House. It was an excellent discussion lots of conversation and challenge. Our approach…

A short week this week thanks to the bank holiday, which was lovely and sunny. Really nice to have a break over the bank holiday weekend and typically as we go into this weekend it’s raining, hopefully it will stop for the barbeque tomorrow!

I stepped in for Clive this week at a number of meetings because he was on leave. I attended CLT and Gold meetings on Tuesday. …

It has been a rather challenging week for Hounslow and have seen Hounslow on the news most days. If you haven’t seen the area has been named as an area of concern for the covid variant originally from India. Not going to dwell on it this week but it has meant that the council is responding again by setting up vaccination and testing sites super quickly. A real cross council and cross Hounslow effort to contain and understand what is going on.

In terms of my week.

We had our Mission Leadership meeting on Tuesday, that’s all managers in digital…
