In Hounslow House for a couple of days this week for a number of meetings and 1–2–1s with the team — actually managed to have a number of these face to face this week which has been good. Too much coffee drunk on Thursday!

Monthly update to CLT on the Digital Portfolio this week. A good discussion on the highs and lows of the programme. We are also resetting the Board that oversees the Portfolio — so a reset of membership and a recognition that the Board covers not just the new projects and programmes but ensures that the business as usual and cyber activities are fit for purpose as well.

Live Q&A with the Chief Exec on Thursday as well — was very well attended and some great questions and conversation in the chat as well — these are always really good events!

So did a bit of LinkedIn admin this week and added my new role and somehow I’d not updated that I am the Socitm President — so corrected that as well. Nice to get so many lovely comments around both.

One of the comments I got was from someone we met when we went to Kansas City in the summer as part of the international work for Socitm. The homecoming Parade for the Kansas City Chiefs from the Superbowl was taking place and he said that there were many places we’d recognise.

I spent a bit of time watching the live footage and it was lovely to ‘be back’. However, I am sure you would have seen the news as to how that day ended. So sad to see how it changed from a celebration to something so tragic. Thoughts are with colleagues in Kansas City.

Some of the statistics around gun crime in the US were staggering — already in 2024 there has been 46 mass shootings and 121 people have been wounded. That just feels so wrong.

Tune of the week: Ed Sheeran — Castle On The Hill (Live)

Note to self: Must take more pictures in the Borough next week…
