It was meant to be the Colleague Conference this week but unfortunately it had to be postponed, although we still had a number of smaller events taking place, which was nice to see colleagues attending. As it was the conference I had booked to stay over on Tuesday and Wednesday. Even though it was postponed I stayed over anyway, as I had an evening meeting on Wednesday. So the commute in the mornings was lovely, although odd seeing Hounslow House from my hotel room :-)

The Digital Festival also started this week as part of the Colleague Conference — started it’s life in Covid and continues to be an avenue for the Council to learn more digital skills. An opportunity to learn new skills and connect with the community as part of the digital inclusion work as well as internally.

Tuesday was Directors Group, as usual a wide range of topics. First on the agenda was Tim and I giving an Emergency Planning update. We are updating several key documents including the Major Emergency Plan and wanted to get input into them before CLT sign off in a couple of weeks. Was a good conversation and a few suggestions and thoughts that we will take away. Budgets also a hot topic as well as regeneration in Feltham and the development of the new Housing strategy.

Another trip back to the Hospital this week to have the stitches out. Consultant was pleased with the x-ray etc so healing can properly start now… Just need to keep up with the exercises. Went with the subtle pink splint!

Had the Housing and Environment Scrutiny Meeting on Wednesday. One of their topics for review for the year is Flooding in the Borough. Is the Council doing enough, what are the gaps and so on. Part of the Resilience Team’s responsibility is flood prevention and Sustainable Draining Systems in the Borough. So I went along to support Tim in his presentation to Members on all the amazing work they are doing. Was great for me to be there, as this part of the role is still the newest to me, Tim knows the subject inside out and gave a great presentation. Bit more work to do over the next few months.
