6.24 weeknotes — 5 years@Hounslow!!! Equality, Diversity and Inclusion…
Enjoying the change in the weather over the week — had all seasons in one day in the week! Good for the grass I guess.
In Hounslow on Tuesday for the regular update to CLT on the Digital Portfolio — there were some gaps on the agenda so they were able to spend a bit more time than usual on the item…
Was a really good conversation on the Digital journey that the Council is on, acknowledgement that there has been a huge amount done on the foundations (core infrastructure and legacy systems etc) and we are reaching a tipping point where we can really start to drive the digital change across the council. A number of changes needed to present the work in a different way and start to focus and drive the future work.
This week sees my 5th year at Hounslow and the CLT discussion made me reflect that during this time we have achieved a huge amount and really changed as a team and a council. I can’t really believe it is 5 years — the Covid years makes it feel I have been there 5 minutes and 50 years all at the same time.
Very proud of all the work the team has done and the approach that the Council takes in a number of areas. Especially proud of the Digital Inclusion work — we are really and genuinely making a difference and changing lives with the work we are doing in the community! Could probably write a whole weeknote on reflections of all the work that we have done but you will be pleased to know that I won’t…
The afternoon was the Hounslow Leadership Group — the senior managers from across the council. Getting together for all things Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Updates and work on the internal and external elements of the EDI Strategy — A fairer, more equal Hounslow | London Borough of Hounslow
We have been doing lots around EDI in the workforce — and have new data across the teams around protected characteristics (gender, ethnicity, disability, age and sexual orientation) — the data shows the make up of the workforce and the breakdown across the stages of the recruitment process.
I presented an overview from Finance and Resources, what the figures told us and what the three key areas as well as any actions were are starting to take. The data is really making us focus on the areas that need change and some good actions across the Directorate that we will then monitor over time to see the difference.
Wednesday morning was the LOTI all member meeting — was good to catch up with what is going on across the Loti landscape and across London — loads going on as per usual — but also good for some time to think and look ahead. One of the things that was presented was the IoT Declaration that Loti have been looking at — I think this is a great thing for London — read more about it here! — IoT for Public Services: A Collaborative Approach in London — LOTI
Thursday was a day of catch up and meetings — I know I have said this before but those 30 minute meetings are hard work — I said to colleagues at the end of the day that my brain was full — and it very much was!! But they were useful to move a number of things along.
5 years — where has the time gone — looking forward to the next 5 years!?
Greeted by this, when I opened the curtains this morning!!
