A quieter week this week and therefore a shorter weeknotes — especially after last week’s bumper edition.

After last week being in the office every I was at home the majority of this week, apart from the Election Count. Have to say it was needed and I managed to catch up on loads of stuff without the commute.

Lots of work on the budget setting over the past week. A number of savings needed and we need to find our contribution. Digital needs to save money within our own budgets but the main contribution would be as enablers of change. So many opportunities across the organisation being worked through at the moment.

On Saturday Hounslow marched in their very first London Pride and I was very proud to be part of the group attending — loved the T Shirt they made for me and others :-)

A total of 25 colleagues from across the organisation joined on Saturday for the march which began at 2.30pm and went through until 6pm — although there was far too much standing around to start with! :-)

Pride Month celebrates LGBTQI+ people, communities and history around the world and campaigns for equal rights for everyone. It is such an important event and I was so proud to have attended my first London Pride and first March with Hounslow — even managed to drag my other half along.

It was also a great opportunity to showcase the amazing work that the staff network does for the Council — they attended the Digital, IT and Resilience Show and Tell on Wednesday of this week as well to update everyone.

Thursday was the General Election, like you didn’t know, and we have been working for weeks to ensure a smooth run election. Lots of energy and effort goes into making them a success from a huge range of people. Digital and IT are across all areas with various people and processes at all stages. From supporting the infrastructure, the systems, cyber and planning for the postal votes, the count and Business continuity to hands on helping with poll clerks, presiding offices or at the Count — the team are ALL over this!

I’m was one of the Deputy Returning Officers on Thursday, so responsible for an area of the count running smoothly and efficiently as well as adjudicating for and bad and doubtful ballot papers. Pleased to say all went really well not just my area but across the whole count.

Was a tiring but ‘fun’ night. True democracy in action, really enjoyed it!

And of course I did my civic duty earlier in the day by voting.

Tune of the Week: Spandau Ballet — Gold (HD Remastered) ( was suggested I missed an opportunity to use this last week, still appropriate this week — thank you Matt :-))
