Fortnight weeknotes this week as we have now successfully got the elections done and dusted — I was going to say for another year there, but I suspect that will not be the case.

Monday last week in the office and how nice was it to have some sunshine that was actually warm! Although I didn’t feel the sun until the evening as spent the day in Hounslow House.

In for the TCE Board on Monday, some good updates but ensuring that the plan is reviewed as well as some resourcing challenges that teams have had recently. So a fair bit of work to do after the meeting for colleagues here.

Had a great catch up meeting on Monday with Achieving for Children colleagues — Suzanne and Jabed. Was great to catch up as not really chatted since I left Kingston nearly 5 years ago (where did that time go!) They are doing some amazing things over there — we spent half an hour catching up and sharing what we are doing to learn from each other. Some opportunities and loads of similarities to work on together. Hoping this isn’t the last time we catch up!

Rest of the week was kept deliberately meeting free due to the election so have been able to get on with things. That said we had the presentation for the MJ Award that we have been nominated for ‘A Whole-Team Approach to Tackling Health Inequalities’ on Thursday, we find out in June whether we have won it so fingers crossed.

Friday and Saturday was the Count! Nothing like a bit of democracy in action — I have to say I really like being part of it. This year I was a Deputy Constituency Returning Officer for the Count — which basically meant I ran part of the count. All went well although it is exhausting. We were lucky enough to have the Hounslow bi-election in our area — which then focussed the mind as all eyes were on my area! All went well. Our Comms team did some amazing comms during the count as well — have a look.

This week has been a lovely short week due to the Bank Holiday and I had Tuesday off as well to recover from the Elections — spent the weekend in Brighton for some rest and relaxation! Lovely!

Highlight of this week was the Team Day on Thursday at Chiswick Town Hall. We get everyone together twice a year to catch up, reflect on the previous 6 months and think ahead to the next 6 months. We have a couple of sessions over the day to accommodate for the Service Desk and those having to continue to provide a service. They are not death by PowerPoint either — and Nick did a great job of organising and running the session (as usual) We also had Microsoft and Our Barn talk to us and a number of other sessions run by colleagues — so thank you to all involved! We retired to a local pub after the event to ensure Jenny had a good send off to her next role in Croydon — Croydon’s gain!

I shall make no comment about the Eurovision Song contest but always enjoy the randomness and campness of the whole thing and was pleased that Switzerland won!

Tune of the week: Olly Alexander — Dizzy (LIVE) | United Kingdom 🇬🇧 | Grand Final | Eurovision 2024
