The week before the London Mayoral Election. Things really do start to massively ramp up for the election now for the team. Members of my team start to work on supporting the election and managing postal votes, as well as their day job. Attention starts to turn to the election day and the count.

I tend not to get too involved in the actual election day but very much with the count. This year the count is taking place over 2 days, the Friday and Saturday after the election. Delivered some training this week to count supervisors which has been fun. Now have my head in the zone for the count — it is very surprising how quickly these things come back to you.

Digital Strategy Board this week where we went through a variety of things. Generally good but some frustration over the time it takes to get things done. But generally moving things along, although I spent far too much time this week rewriting the Portfolio report….

In the final stages of going live with the new Planning system, so the team is spending a lot of time on this. The Director of Planning and Buildings and I delivered a couple of updates to Members this week — including an all-member demo on Wednesday evening. We have prepared and planned what we were doing — some slides and then a live demo of the public end of the system — you can see what is coming here already…

Presentation was great. I started the demo of the system — entered in a postcode into the search — then — nothing — then System Unavailable — 30 Councillors on Teams! Lots of frantic messaging behind the scenes. Took some questions from Councillors and tried to explain what I was going to so. Turned out the supplier had a firewall failure — was back in 15 mins — and we did manage to give a brief demo. But probably the longest 15 mins of my life for a while… All good in the end.

Turned into a trainspotter this week when I saw the South Western Train with the original paintwork (and yes it was a slow photo week…)

Great blog post here from the team on the LOTI work for the Social Care Platform — Developing a professional linkage platform in Adult Social Care: Final reflections from project partners — LOTI

Tune of the week: Robyn — Dancing On My Own
