Fortnight notes again this time, was just too much going on at the end of last week and recovering from Easter — chocolate overload 😊 Makes such a difference having 4-day weeks and have a few of them coming up over the next month or so.

Have had some ‘fun’ with trains over the last couple of weeks, let’s get that off my chest early. Having to get off a train due to the fast line being blocked mid journey and transferring to a slow train was interesting — it’s amazing how many people you can squeeze onto a train when you need to. Then at the weekend getting stuck at a station for an hour on the way to Brighton. I’ve had enough with trains over the last couple of weeks.

A fair few gaps in the diary over the last week, filled with actually being able to get on with some work and catch up a bit. You can tell colleagues have been off for Easter — although the diary is looking a bit more jam packed next week to make up for it.

Once a month my management team comes together for a day. We always start with a bit of breakfast which sets us up for the day. Managed to pack in a huge amount of content over the day. Projects, people, budgets, savings, the future and everything in between. Although had to leave early as was seeing Mika in Brighton in the evening (was also amazing!)

Joint CLT / SLT this week where we went through the plans for next year’s budget. Going to be a challenging year for the budget. The Council is also thinking ahead — we went through plans for the vision for 2050, thoughts on the approach for Healthcare in the Borough and lots more as well. Going to be very interesting watching this emerge.

The Election is coming rapidly as well — so more thinking and planning starting to get into the diary as well — as usual I am involved in the Count this year — so looking forward to that. As well as all the general IT and tech arrangements that go into running an election — the importance of cyber security increasing too!

It’s in the Borough so must count as work, surely…. Thursday afternoon (had the afternoon off) and went to the Fullers Brewery for their tour. Was great fun. Amazing to see the old and the new together in one place and an incredible amount of beer!!!!

Tune of the week: MIKA — Grace Kelly
