Nice to have a few days again in the office, although didn’t stay over this week so was almost like pre-pandemic going in every day (almost). Actually it’s a four day week for me this and next week. It was nice to have the headspace on the train to think, to reflect and to have a small sleep…

Monday was the relaunch of the London CDIO Council — it was great to come together to rethink about the aims and objectives of the group. It hasn’t met for a while but there was great attendance from all over London — trying to ensure this aligns with the other groups is going to be the key. Ended with a clear focus on the technical elements and a range of groups looking at a range of subjects.

I presented to our Borough Based Partnership Board on Wednesday, a bit of an update on some of the Council projects but a bit of a reset. Getting the right people in the room to ensure we are moving some of the wider health initiatives forward — there is lots to do with this one and we agreed to get a clear delivery plan for the next year. Next steps are meeting all the programme leads to determine where we really can make a difference.

Had a number of Transforming Community Experience events this week — Live Q&A with the Chief Exec and Assistant Chief Exec and a workshop on the prioritisation of the different service reviews. Q&A was unfortunate timing as we had a hardware failure of a firewall on Tuesday so at points it was a bit laggy as we didn’t have full capacity in the environment — but these things happen. Didn’t distract from the conversation and the engagement from the 350 colleagues who were there.

Hounslow Leadership Group on Thursday, where we were talking about the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy for the Borough — the question that we were trying to get to grips with was:

‘Which are the most impactful topics we should focus on to tackle structural and systemic inequality for inclusion in the EDI strategy for the next four years’

Some great conversations and what surprised me (or perhaps it didn’t really) was the amount of Digital elements that came up during the feedback from the tables. Some real links to the work that we are doing with the Digital Inclusion work. So already making some inroads into this. But made me realise we need to do more selling and communication of all the work we are doing.

A visit from the Queen Consort as well this week to Boston Manor House — as the building has been restored and is soon reopening. Exciting times — although I didn’t get to meet her :-).

Tune of the week: Tove Lo — 2 Die 4 (Official Music Video)
