5.21 — weeknotes —grumpy — project fun and comedy store to end the week…

A four day week this week which has been nice. Out in the camper again last week which was nice but the weather didn’t really agree with that, but so nice to spend some time away in the countryside and perhaps a lemonade or two, very chilled.

Tuesday was at Hounslow House so good to see colleagues, I thought I was being clever by leaving work at 530, but the world had other ideas. It took me three hours to get home as there was a fatality at East Croydon. Whilst it wasn’t ideal, you have to stop and reflect on the fact that at least I got home that evening.

I’ve had post holiday grumps this week but I have at least warned colleagues that has been the case. I’m assuming that has helped….well probably helped them avoid me.

A number of challenges around some projects this week that we have spent some time working through. Some of these things are complicated, unpicking years worth of data and processes etc, so I get why they take time, others I genuinely wonder why it takes so bloody long. But all of these being worked through by the team — we are at least all moving forwards.

I meet all of our new starters in the team and we have a 15 min catch up regularly to say hello and have a chat. Tuesday was a hectic one where we had 5 new starters, it was more like speed dating than anything else but good to meet everyone.

Been a hectic week catching up with colleagues / friends outside of work as well this week — with a little trip to the Comedy Store on Thursday — great fun!
