5.20 — weeknotes — team day — LOTI future — thank you
Just to confirm following last time’s week notes that it wasn’t camping as such that I was doing last week but away in the camper van. I definitely don’t do roughing it.
Back into it over the last couple of weeks, although a four day week last week so not too bad. I actually managed to put pen to paper on my level 7 assignments last week as well so feel good for progressing them. Although then this week had a session on the portfolio and end of course assignment, so any positivity I had vanished. Just need to knuckle down and get on with pulling it all together. Time allocated in the diary already — needs more!
Lots of catching up on emails and the team over the last couple of weeks, trying to move things along before we get into the summer break and thinking about what needs to happen over the next few months. A number of projects nearing go live and a number of new colleagues joining us over the next few weeks!
Came back to news that the planning project has hit some delays and needing to wait for a patch from the supplier. Such a pain as the existing systems and processes are not the best and are well overdue replacing. But it has to be right. So the team are busily looking at the plans and resources to ensure we are able to hit the new deadlines. Some challenging conversations but the whole council really pulling together to get this over the line!
Last Thursday was a all member workshop with LOTI and in the evening a LOTI event looking at it’s future and celebrating the fact that it’s now 4! Can’t believe it is 4 already! Eddie’s speech about how we can come together to really drive change and innovation was spot on!!
Last Friday we had an all team event at Holiday Inn in Brentford. It’s good to get the team together regularly, especially as we have had a number of new starters recently. We didn’t want to do death by powerpoint, just a chance to meet colleagues and chat, find out about them and their teams. Was a great day — made even better as Nick and Chris from the team (and others) pulled the whole thing together! Was brilliant! Even a walk to Syon House (shame I missed this as had a Programme Board in the morning) I had some great feedback thanking me for organising it — I had to say several times that I really did nothing! But they said that it bought the team together, made them smile, made them connected and even more motivated to work! Made me so proud and bought some of the Level 7 learning to life.
Planning the Socitm, London and South East regional meeting in September as well. Numbers haven’t been the best in the past so really trying to mix things up to get people there. Going to be a session focussed on people! The most important component of any digital ecosystem and no powerpoint!
At Hounslow House this week for a summer thank you from the Leader and the Chief Exec. An opportunity to have a coffee and cake with them and colleagues, and enjoy some sunshine on the terrace. Nice to get together.
