No weeknotes last week as was a hectic week so a double from me this week.

Theme of the last couple of weeks have been sending Clive off, currently my boss, off to Southwark — so been doing handovers, having lemonades and giving him a good send off!

Went to SLT last week to update on the work we are doing on business intelligence and data together with an update on the revised information governance and cyber policies that we have been reviewing over the last few months. We have really changed these policies from long PDFs to really focused web pages and the initial reviews have been really positive.

Had a check in conversation with Nick at the Water and Steam museum in Kew Bridge — trying to get out and about in the Borough more. Was really good to have a coffee in the cafe, (Pump and Grind Coffee Shop — should get an award for the name) — it’s a community space and run by Our Barn. Go and have a look — https://waterandsteam.org.uk/

Thursday spoke at the GeoPlace conference with Peter Fleming, the former leader of Sevenoaks Council. I thought it was a really good conversation and a very well organised conference and I really enjoyed it. Some colleagues from Hounslow presented the day before on some of the work we’ve been doing on targeting intervention to support residents in fuel poverty. I spoke about the work that Socitm had been doing, especially the Digital Trends 2023 report and how important place based and spatial information is as part of service delivery and transformation for local government. But really thinking about the future especially the role of AI.

Discussion at CLT this week on Activating the use of Hounslow House more — continuing the evolution of the work we are doing with the ground floor, with colleagues and making changes happen across the building. Starting to get traction to move forwards again which is good.

Although we have had two four day weeks, this week seems to have been a really long week for some reason, although it was really good to see the Coronation last weekend — Eurovision to look forward to this weekend!

Tune of the week: Has to be doesn’t it….. Mae Muller — I Wrote A Song | United Kingdom 🇬🇧 | Second Semi-Final | Eurovision 2023
