4.23 — weeknotes — MJ Awards — last weeknotes for a couple of weeks…
Last weeknotes from me for a couple of weeks as I’m on leave — woohoo. An opportunity to switch off… we will see how well I will do at that but I will certainly try.
Been a good week this week, hectic, they always are, but trying to push things along and see people before leave is always difficult.
Had the next session of my Level 7 this week, always good and challenging. This week included a bit of a role play, yes we all groaned a bit as well. Somehow I managed to be the person attending the meeting to convince everyone of the ‘great idea’ and every one else going to disagree (aim was to influence etc). Even though there were elements of fun and light-hearted times it was really stressful as you throw yourself in trying to convince people. Hard work but some good feedback.
A week of train strike, so has been disruption for lots of people but I still managed to get in the office on Thursday for our Transforming The Community Experience programme board meeting. Ended up driving in and battling with the M25 for a bit of it, and ended up staying much later that I wanted to but was good and good to see people. Really starting to gain shape with new colleagues joining us to assist in the thinking of the structure of how we provide customer services across the Council. This will enable us to set the direction of travel and ensure that we meet the ambition.
Rest of the week was trying to clear and finish and much as possible before leave. Not sure I was very successful to be honest. Perhaps that was because I’d set my sights on doing too much, must remember to set achievable goals when I get back, most things pushed along enough or with the team to progress.
Friday we attended the MJ Awards ceremony in London where we were up for a couple of awards. Innovation for our Community Solutions work and Digital Transformation. It was a real privilege to be one of the finalist and very proud of all the work across the Council. Unfortunately we didn’t win (this time), such a shame, but was great to spend time with Councillors and Colleagues for the afternoon. Also great to see so many past colleagues from across Local Government as well — great to catch up.
Now I thought long and hard about tune of the week this week, what it was going to be if we won was very obvious, Celebration!, but I wasn’t sure what to use if we didn’t win. But then I thought, actually, winning or losing the team and the council have done amazing at our digital transformation — we are still on that journey — but still worth celebrating!
