4.15 — weeknotes — national pet day — ready for a long weekend and chocolate!
Monday was National Pet Day so here is a picture of Fred. I have always wanted to keep fish and never really got around to doing it — so just before lockdown finally took the plunge. So have had a tropical tank for a couple of years now and definitely been a learning curve. Lost a few along the way but have a couple of fish that are part of the original — Fred being one of them…
Service desk has had a hectic week with a couple of issues and some sickness. But they continue to get stuff sorted with a smile on their faces. Having worked in IT for a number of years now, you can sense the scale and impact of issues. This one only affected a small number of people so not a major incident but was very frustrating for those involved. As always the team responded and got colleagues sorted!
A brilliant start to the week. Firstly getting back into the routine of a commute to work, a walk around the block to wake up, get some steps in and clear my head to start the day — have done most days this week and really enjoyed it. Secondly, as part of the inductions we ensure that everyone meets all new starters. I met our new Cyber Security apprentice, and he was awesome. Such energy and enthusiasm was just contagious. His intro section at the all IT show and tell was amazing, although I missed it unfortunately, but heard all about it including a video of him doing handstands — awesome!
Tuesday was another day in Hounslow House and attended CLT to speak about the World of Work and had a good discussion on the next steps — a few actions to take away and get sorted. Occupancy rates remain relatively low but increasing. Every time I have gone in it has been really good to see colleagues and now the coffee shop is open in the building it is even better!
Wednesday was a great day to get on top of a range of things. A bit of time without meetings to think about the next couple of weeks. A few presentations and meetings coming up that need some thinking. Managed to do a bit of that and moved some things forward but didn’t manage to complete everything I needed to do, which was quite frustrating. So important to get this time in the diary to think and reflect!
Thursday was our Digital Strategy Board. A review of the projects and programmes as well as two main items. The next steps on our Data Commitment work and an update on Cyber work across the council. Was a good meeting with some good discussions! Again lots to think about.
Looking forward to a long and hopefully sunny weekend and a lot of chocolate! Enjoy the weekend…
