Following World Business Relationship Managerment Week last week I spent some time with the BRM team this week, a chance to say hello, just going through how important I believe their role to be, they really are the face of Digital, alongside the service desk. They are the connection between the business area and Digital, they convert requirements into technical speak and vice versa. In short they make the magic happen — they get things done.

Over the last few months they have done an amazing job to really professionalise the approach and the relationship with the business areas. Speaking to Ellie, she says they have moved from action taker to strategic partner (in some areas) — but really good to hear of the progress being make and the role that Digital is playing in both their day to day activities and transformation. Great catch up.

On Tuesday I deputised for Clive at CLT as it was half term, I took up half of the agenda anyway with an update on Digital and then Information Governance with Barbara. We had 20 minutes for both items and ended up talking about both for just over an hour as the conversation and challenge was really good — lots of questions.

There is lots of good progress on the Digital Strategy and a lot to do, but for some reason we are struggling to be able to present everything in a way that makes sense and is meaningful for everyone. I gave some of the ups and downs of the last 12 months, budgets and some of the priorities for this year. Some really good questions and feedback on how to present the next update — a real focus on the deliverables — who, what and when. A zoom from the Macro to the micro…

Information Governance has really progressed across the Council over the last few years, has been good to raise the importance and awareness of what can be done with data and getting the basics right. Still room for improvement and work to do — a clear steer and various things for us to progress across the council, linking in with our Data Strategy work as well.

A rather slow week for me this week, have had to take the foot off the throttle a bit due to covid. Whilst at the start of the week it was looking like I was about to test negative, on Tuesday it was still showing very positive again, that pesky red line looking very angry… Over the last couple of days it has got fainter again and today is the official end of the quarantine anyway so can start to get back to normal. That said I am taking this weekend to stay at home and not do anything to ensure that I am fully rested and recovered!

Well its’ been an eventful Friday with Storm Eunice,. It really is good to see when all elements of public sector and our communities come together in the preparation, planning and after math of such major incidents. Good to have the early warning of the weather as well to prepare. Even then, the tidy up will certainly take a while across the Country. Luckily all the trees / fences / garden furniture / wheelie bins, were unaffected here!

Have to say I was a bit obsessed with watching the planes come into land at Heathrow, impressive skills and very glad that I wasn’t flying! LIVE: Storm Eunice at London Heathrow Airport

Tune of the Week: (seems a bit appropriate and it is LGBT History Month) Somewhere Over the Rainbow — The Wizard of Oz (1/8) Movie CLIP (1939) HD
