Another quick slow week this week! So bad though I didn’t take a single photo!!!!!!

A great achievement this week as we approved the master wayleave agreement for the borough. This will allow communications companies to be able to able to install fibre to the premises in the borough much easier. This is a monumental achievement and is something that hasn’t quite happened over the last few years in the council. So am really pleased we have managed to make it happen. This basically means that we will be able to make faster fibre connections to more of our communities across the Borough. This really is an essential part of our digital strategy and will really make a difference into the community. Lots of other positive benefits happening around this as well in terms of social value and will give us the ability to make lots more happen.

On Tuesday we went to CLT with an update on the One Hounslow and Digital work going on with the team. Every time we go we are making small steps forwards. I tried a slightly different approach to presenting the amount of ‘stuff’ we have on at the moment in the digital world. It sort of worked, but sort of didn’t. It certainly showed a lot of the work taking place at the moment but didn’t really go into enough detail. Back to the drawing board a bit with this one.

I have spent a lot of time this week looking at our Future World of Work project (FWOW). Partly as we had a great chat with colleagues from Kingston on Monday to compare thoughts and notes and partly as we are running a Hounslow Leadership Group special next week on the programme.

There really is a moment in time here to ensure that we maximise some of the positive things from the pandemic and to ensure that we don’t go back to how we were working a year ago. Human nature would make it easy just to go back what we know. The session at HLG next week will be an important part of shaping that with colleagues from across the Council. Looking forward to it.

We had a great meeting with our colleagues in Coalo this week — they are the council company that does housing repairs along with other parts of the Lampton360 group they do all sorts of other things like recycling and greenspaces. They have a new MD and there are new plans emerging as to how we can work closer together to move things forwards and transform. Her vision is amazing and was really exciting to hear about the opportunities where we can both make a difference to both colleagues and the community. Really looking forward to this!

We have spent the last few months with our reshaping of the team and going through recruitment and so on — all very labour intensive but the team have been great at making it all happen. We have the first of our new starters join us next week and I am so excited to have them start.

Not run once this week and I can really tell. Been wet and horrible but whilst I have been out for a couple of commutes to work I really need to get myself doing some more exercise and getting out the house next week.

Tune of the week: Loved the original of this song but really like this version. Very Friday… Riton x Nightcrawlers — Friday ft. Mufasa & Hypeman (Dopamine Re-Edit) [Lyric Video]
