2.34 — the birthday edition…

Really nice short week this week with the bank holiday Monday and had an afternoon off as well to use up some leave. Building up to my birthday on Sunday (😊) followed by a week off — no weeknotes next week…

I am approaching a year at Hounslow in a couple of weeks. I don’t know whether this has gone really quickly or whether it feels like I have been there forever. Even more strange when you think I have been at home for 6 months of it. Certainly started to reflect on the amount we have achieved over this time.

On Monday 14 September we are hosting a Borough Conference, an opportunity to get partners from across Hounslow together to reflect on the work undertaken by those organistions and the community during the pandemic. It is also an opportunity to continue the journey of recovery as well. Have to say, has been a bit of a challenge to get ourselves into a place where we are confident of all the moving parts. Going to use Zoom for the first time for an official work thing because of the ease of getting people in and out of the breakout groups, unfortunately this functionality is coming too late to MS Teams. And somewhere along the line I ‘volunteered’ to MC the event and help it move along on the day (actually I am secretly really looking forward to it!).

Going to be hard work over the next week to pull it all together but a real cross council effort to do it — and we have assigned a Digital Ambassador to each element so that the support there! Looking forward to it!

We have also started planning our Digital Festival that we are going to run in November as an opportunity to engage colleagues and the community in the work that we are doing at Hounslow. I heard the thoughts from the team bringing it together this week and there is a great mix of different types of activities and events to get everyone interested. But more time to plan this one!

Had a great meeting this week with the team working on the local economic recovery strategy. Was great to update each other on the various thoughts and plans and was clear there was a lot of overlap in both. Was a great hour and ensured that we have embedded digital in a very meaningful and practical way into the strategy.

Also had a number of meetings this week on the planning of the next Hounslow leadership group meetings and wider thoughts on the ways of working, and how we can ensure all staff across the organisation are engaged. Really good to think about all the creative and innovative ways of joining things up. Lots to do here and really good to be part of it.

Final meeting of the week was the Hounslow Integrated Care Partnership Board. There are half a dozen or so themes in this programme, Digital being the one that I am leading on. With everything else going on, I have to admit to be rather slow off the starting blocks with this. But this week managed to start to plan the workshop at the end of September with all the partners, I mailed them all this week to introduce myself and was inundated with thoughts on things that we need to talk about. Was really impressed with everything coming back and now have to make some sense of it all to bring it together at the workshop.

Right week off now. Campervan and Brighton awaits, lets hope for some sunshine…
